Cisive has been informed that there will be delays with all China services in the coming weeks due to the Novel Coronavirus. Companies in Beijing will be closed through February 10th. The closure time frame for companies in cities outside of Beijing is to be determined as they do not have the means to fight the virus.

We have been advised by the Australian Federal Police (AFP) that, due to hazardous smoke conditions, there will be postal delays affecting when our partner will receive AFP certificates. Additionally, reduced staffing numbers at the AFP during this time may also cause delays with receiving police check results.
All other services offered in Australia may be affected as well due to the life threatening situation in New South Wales.

The Criminal District Court in Orleans Parish, LA (New Orleans) computer systems are offline until further notice due to a ransomware attack, which occurred on December 13th.
There is no time frame for when the system will be up and running. The clerks are working diligently to get this resolve this problem, and restore system operations. We will continue to keep our clients updated as information is received.

Due to seasonal holiday hiring in Mexico, the agencies that process criminal searches are currently backlogged and experiencing delays. These delays are expected through December 31st.

Due to a platform change in the Kansas public access system, the confirmation of full dates of birth will no longer be available. The new platform called, "Kansas District Court Public Access" portal will only display a year of birth. Please expect time service delays on possible records in the coming months as the new platform is rolled out. This change in process will require additional court clerk assistance and file requests.

We will notify you of any additional updates to the process as the roll out occurs.

As of July 2nd, Floyd and Macon County courts in Georgia have been affected by an isolated ransom ware attack. Currently, the courts are unable to perform searches, unless the data is re-entered or the ransom is paid. At this time, courts do not have access to their computer system.

As of July 11th, Oconee County Probate Court in Georgia was attacked with ransom ware and also cannot conduct searches.

As of July 18th, Henry County courts in Georgia have confirmed they were also affected by the ransom ware attack and presently, no searches can be conducted.

Cisive is receiving daily updates from both our vendors and Georgia’s affected courts regarding the ransom ware attack. Currently, there is no ETA on when the affected systems will be operational. Until further notice, searches in the above jurisdictions will be held. Cisive will continue to monitor this situation until it is resolved.

Due to the political turmoil and unrest in Venezuela, all services have been temporarily suspend. We do not know how long this will last, but we will communicate updates as we get them.

The EU-U.S. Privacy Shield, on July 12, 2016, was adopted by the European Commission, establishing a data transfer mechanism between the two regions. The EU data protection authorities indicated in a recent statement that they will hold off for at least one year on any new challenges to the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield. The U.S. Department of Commerce launched its Privacy Shield website where organizations can begin self-certifying to Shield on 1 Aug. CARCO has been diligently working with counsel to be prepared to certify as soon as possible after August 1. Addendums to existing contracts between CARCO and our clients may be required to attest to the provisions of Privacy Shield and those will be sent out in the coming months. Guidance for Completing New Form I-9 (Employment Eligibility Verification Form)

For our clients who utilize CARCO's Electronic I-9/E-Verify solution, please note the following updates from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regarding Form I-94. CBP recently announced an interim final rule (IFR) in the Federal Register to automate Form I-94. Non-immigrants traveling to the US by air or sea will no longer need to complete a paper Form I-94. The interim final rule will be effective Friday, April 26, 2013.

What Clients Should Expect:

  • Foreign travelers will be directed to visit www.cbp.gov/I94 to obtain and print out an electronic Form I-94. (website currently inoperable) Employers will be presented with a computer generated printout of the applicants I-94 card. Which is the "functional equivalent" of the paper Form I-94.
  • Individuals who enter by land or require a secondary inspection as asylees, refugees and parolees will be provided a paper copy of Form I-94 by a CBP officer.Please keep in mind as the employer you will continue to see the small white card affixed to the foreign passport as CBP is not completely doing away with the I-94 card.
